Ang Iglesia Metodista . . . through the valley with Christ
"This one thing let us do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are ahead, let us press toward the mark, for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 3:13-14); crying unto him day and night, till we also are "delivered from the bondage of corruption, into the glorious freedom of the children of God!" (Romans 8:21)

KUWARESMA
Sa Libis...Kasama ni Kristo
Through the Valley...with Christ
Ang tungkod mo at pamalo, aking gabay at sanggalang. (Awit 23:4)
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship
When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die. It may be a death like that of the first disciples who had to leave home and work to follow Him, or it may be a death like Luther’s, who had to leave the monastery and go out into the world. But it is the same death every time — death in Jesus Christ,
the death of the old man at his call.” (Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship)
The path through the valley of the shadow of death remains dangerous but the shadow of fear simply vanishes in the light of His promise, "I will not leave you nor forsake you".

(Juan 3:16-17)
Ang Paglalakbay sa Libis. . . Kasama ni Kristo ay nagpapatuloy . . .
Sa Pangalan ng Ama, ng Anak, at ng Espiritu Santo

Through the Valley...with Christ
The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore. (Psalms 121:6-8)
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. (Psalm 23:4)

The invitation to a journey through the valley. . .with Christ involves (1) Union with Christ : Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. (2 Corinthians 5:17) . . . (2) Servanthood with Christ : If one of you wants to be great, you must be the servant of the rest; and if one of you wants to be first, you must be the slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people. (Mark 10:43-45) . . . and (3) Martyrdom with Christ : "If any of you want to come with me," he told them, “you must forget yourself, carry your cross, and follow me. For if you want to save your own life, you will lose it; but if you lose your life for me and for the gospel, you will save it." (Mark 8:34-35)

The journey through the Valley...with Christ is a journey
From our Zones of Comfort to our Crossroads of Transformation
Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. 12:2 I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. (Genesis 12:1-2)
II
The journey through the Valley...with Christ is a journey
From our Instagram Selfie Impression to our Undeserved Justification with Christ's own righteousness
Now to one who works, wages are not reckoned as a gift but as something due. But to one who without works trusts
him who justifies the ungodly, such faith is reckoned as righteousness. (Romans 4:4-5)
III
The journey through the Valley...with Christ is a Journey From our Attachment to the
Finest Attractions of this World to our Communion with Christ through the Old Rugged Cross
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order
that the world might be saved through him. (John 3:16-17)
The Cost of Discipleship
“The cross is laid on every Christian. The first Christ-suffering which every man must experience is the call to abandon the attachments of this world. It is that dying of the old man which is the result of his encounter with Christ. As we embark upon discipleship we surrender ourselves to Christ in union with His death—we give over our lives to death. Thus it begins; the cross is not the terrible end to an otherwise god-fearing and happy life, but it meets us at the beginning of our communion with Christ.
When Christ calls a man, He bids him come and die. It may be a death like that of the first disciples who had to leave home and work to follow Him, or it may be a death like Luther’s, who had to leave the monastery and go out into the world. But it is the same death every time—death in Jesus Christ, the death of the old man at his call.”
Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship
Through the Valley. . . with Christ, the journey continues . . . In the Name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit
